Presented by Heather Landau, MD who is a hematologist-oncologist and the Director of the Amyloid Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center focused on increasing access to novel, effective therapies in AL amyloidosis and has investigated drugs at all stages of development.  She has conducted multiple investigator-initiated clinical trials exploring novel agents and approaches, including consolidation and maintenance strategies in high-risk patients.  She led the development of MSK’s Outpatient Transplant Service and is studying innovative ways to optimize high-dose therapy and transplant care.

Maurer, MD a general internist and geriatric cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation.  He is the Arnold and Arlene Goldstein Professor of Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, where directs the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Laboratory for the Elderly (CCRLE). Dr. Maurer is a member of the Advanced Cardiac Care Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia Campus. 

After the presentation, Dr. Maurer answered many interesting questions from patients, physicians and family members.
